Training
Training is offered in two sections; Supervisors or those who want to become Supervisors, the second training is available for all First Responders, as well as their spouses/significant others.
Supervisory
The Supervisor training prepares them to identify the early precursors of stress and then equip them with the tools and resources needed to assist those under their command. The result ultimately creates a better officer and saves one of the department’s most valuable assets, an employee, while lessening the department’s exposure to liability! This course provides critical information to combat the toxic stress that destroys marriages, careers, and lives, all too often leading to suicide. Learn how to help others take control of this kill and live a healthier life by “TAKING OUT THE GARBAGE.”

8-hour training for ALL First Responders and their spouses/significant others
“The lifestyle can be one of the most challenging yet rewarding professions in our society. However, the challenges are growing daily. The men and women who are “called” to these vital professions are exposed to all the traumas our society has to offer and then expected to go home, merely shed the “garbage” at the end of the shift and peacefully co-habitat and communicate with their spouses/significant others/families. To become successful and survive, they are forced to develop a persona that allows them to deal with daily insults without taking them personally, leading to low morale and complacency. They shut down emotionally and distance themselves from their families to protect themselves from the things they see daily and the “garbage” they are exposed to.”
Stress Coaching
Coaching is defined as “a form of development in which an experienced person, called a Coach, supports a client in achieving a specific personal or professional goal by providing training and guidance.” Coaching is both proactive and reactive by nature.
The Coaches at Under the Shield have advanced training and real-life experience in the industry. This makes them relatable to those they coach, specifically in areas such as stress, relationship issues from the lifestyle, sleep issues and suicide prevention etc. This type of coaching and training is centered around The Simons Theory of the Psychological Garbage Can which is based on the First Responder lifestyle and explains Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) as an injury, not a disorder.
Coaching is provided ANONYMOUSLY on an individual and/or family basis. For coaching, call 855. 889.2348. For additional information, email [email protected]
